I drive by this scene regularly. Earlier this week, it really caught my attention and I decided it was time to take a picture. I did, last evening. The Three Sisters, Canmore’s landmark, can be seen from almost anywhere in town. I think this view is among the best, rivalled only by the scene from down on the Bow Flats on the east side of town…https://www.shotsbypeter.com/blog/?p=2556
I took last evening’s photograph using a 70-200 mm lens. I used the minimum focal length of 70 mm to get the entire scene in the frame. I chose this lens, hoping to get a some telephoto compression (the phenomenon of background elements appearing larger than they actually are – hence the scene becomes “distorted” since those background elements appear closer and larger than they are in real life). Being at the very low end of the focal length range, I didn’t get much as I would have liked, but these peaks are nonetheless a looming presence, viewed from this location.
