Last week I went to Okotoks, a town just a little south of Calgary. I was struck by the brilliant colour of the canola fields and so I made a mental note to go back with a camera. I did so today and got a few shots of some prairie scenery in its full summer colour.
This photo features the brilliant blue sky, the green grass and the bright yellow of canola flowers so familiar to Albertans at this time of the year. I also threw in a fence line to make it very authentic. A classic, rural Alberta scene.
I turned south to get this shot showing the expanse of this particular canola crop. On the left side of the scene, that’s highway #2, heading south toward Lethbridge and the US border. I managed to capture a few quick shots before the sky turned cloudy and the patchers of blue disappeared. The scene lost a lot of its allure when the sky turned grey, so I went home, content with what I was able to get.
I wish I could write like you as Margaret Laurence once said “When I say “work” I only mean writing. Everything else is just odd jobs.”
