Today’s post marks a significant milestone in my blogging history. Today’s is the 5ooth post I’ve published since I began in March of 2010. I’ve chosen to mark the occasion by sharing some photos taken earlier this year but not published at that time. It’s not that I didn’t consider these pictures worthy at the time; I simply chose to post others instead.
This first image was taken in the course of the spring photo tour to northern Arizona and southern Utah, last March. I was accompanied by Barry Stewart and Bill Mc Adam for this 4-day road trip through the scenic red rock country, typical of the U.S. Southwest. This image captures an impressive cloud formation over the Vermilion Cliffs in northern Arizona.
This scene from Bryce Canyon was also taken during our spring photo tour. More red rock.
In late May, Rolande and I traveled to Iceland where we spent a very pleasurable 3 days, despite the persistent rain. Rain is not unexpected, so what we experienced was typical and welcomed as consistent with our expectations. This photograph was taken in the course of a tour we took of the south coast of the island. This photograph features the meltwater flowing from the Sólheimajökull Glacier.
While visiting France in early June with Bill and Stephanie McAdam, I captured this morning scene in the town of Baraqueville where we resided during our stay in the Aveyron region.
Closer to home, I took this next photo just south of Canmore. This view is down Spray Lake toward Banff. The mountain in the centre of the scene is Goatview Peak.
During our August visit to Newfoundland, we visited an area of Gros Morne National Park known as the Tablelands. Meandering along the Tablelands Trail, I photographed this gnarly old root along the way. It’s an interesting photo subject I couldn’t resist.
My last shot for today was taken just recently, capturing the front garden at our home in Arizona at sunrise.
I could go on, but I’m satisfied with the selections for this 500th post. I began posting my photographs almost 8 years ago. I undertook the project of building a website, motivated by curiosity about the underlying technology. I was also seeking a medium that would enable me to share my photography in a more flexible way than offered by the photo sites available at the time. I’ve seen many displays of photographs with no information whatsoever about the images portrayed. “A picture is worth 1000 words”, so they say. I find that a few, well chosen words go a long way to complementing the image.
I enjoy writing about photography and my pictures. Over the past 7+ years, I’ve done so 500 times. I estimate that I’ve posted ~3,500 photographs and I’ve had over 35,000 viewings of them. (I don’t expect to overtake Instagram any time soon!) I thank all the followers of my blog. Your support and comments are most appreciated.
I plan to continue, with no significant changes in mind. I do welcome comments on the photographs and on the blog, in general. Please feel free to share your thoughts on how I might make the site more appealing to you.
Congratulations for your 500 post🎉🎉
Keep them coming, greatly appreciated
