Earlier this year, I included a picture of Panther Falls in a post entitled “Winter Magic”. The falls were frozen at the time, so they looked like a giant icicle, rather than a waterfall. Remember it?
Today, I returned to the falls, accompanied by friend and fellow photographer, Bob Bear. I took today’s pictures from a different vantage point which enabled me to avoid the mist coming from the falls. Not good for the camera. Last winter, I was able to get up close and get shots from a variety of locations. Dry locations were few and far between today. Here’s a long exposure version of the falls from today.
Today’s picture was taken at f8, using the 9 f-stop neutral density filter to slow the light entering the camera. The exposure for this shot was 20 seconds, more than enough time to get the soft, streaming effect. Note also the effect of the long exposure on the moving clouds in the upper right hand corner of the photograph.
Uncle Pete All these photos were absolutly beautiful. I was so happy that Uncle Russ sent the link to me. I love the way you put a description with each. Say hi to Matante for me and look forward to seeing more. With much love your niece Michelle
