Yesterday was a very quiet Sunday. Rolande was out shopping and I really didn’t have much to do. So, I grabbed the TV remote and settled in to watch some football. Soon, I realized I was nodding off and concluded I should find something else to occupy my time.
I hadn’t been doing much photography lately, so I thought I’d check the yard to see if there was anything of interest. The weather was good and the light not bad. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome and have decided to blog some of the better images out to you.
The first picture shows the pathway to the back area of the yard, where we have a some very productive citrus trees. Visible in the distant background is a lemon tree ready to share its bounty.
We also have a deciduous tree at the end of this pathway. Not sure of its species, but it has lost its leaves for the winter. Who’s going to clean up that mess on the ground? This image too, is a bit messy, a lot going on there. I like the picture for the disconnect between the dormant tree and the vibrant life of the cacti, shrubs and flowering vines around it.
Next, is my favourite picture for the day. It’s the flower of a Texas Olive tree we have in our yard. This delicate looking blossom has a very interesting appearance, almost like a light fabric or tissue paper. That’s great, but where are the olives?
This closeup was taken using my FujiFilm X100F camera. This camera has but a single lens, 35mm focal length. It’s very versatile and what’s unique is a built-in “macro” feature that enables me to take close-ups, doing nothing more than moving in very close.
I like this next photograph as well. As I was choosing my pictures for today’s post, I noticed this one taken earlier in the autumn and chose to include it despite it not being part of yesterday’s compilation. It was photographed at the front of the house at sundown and features a large agave plant.
The last one for today features an earthenware, table centrepiece that graces an outdoor dining table. With time on my hands, I photographed several things that I might not normally be drawn to. There’s something here that appeals to me, I guess.
What beautiful photos Peter. So completely different to our stay with you in Canmore. Love the Arizona difference.
