Lake Washademoak is located in central New Brunswick, southeast of Fredericton. It forms part of the Saint John River system and is a popular area for boaters and cottagers. We recently visited Paul and Micheline Ingalls at their summer home on the lake and had the opportunity to experience a pretty Washademoak sunset. The scene was enhanced by the presence of high cirrus clouds, with their characteristic wispy patterns.
Typically found at heights greater than 20,000 feet (6,000 meters), cirrus clouds are composed of ice crystals that originate from the freezing of supercooled water droplets. Cirrus generally occur in fair weather and point in the direction of air movement at their elevation. The direction of the upper air movement is very evident from the clouds in this photo.
