You’ll notice that the format of my blog has changed. This came about as the result of a change to the software I use to publish it. WordPress, my publisher has upgraded its core software for a variety of reasons. The theme that I had used for almost ten years, provided by a third party is not compatible with WordPress’s improved version. It’s probably time for a change, hope you like the new look.
A few days ago, we were driving home along Scottsdale Road, a main thoroughfare in the city. I noticed an old truck parked on the side of the road that seemed like a good photo subject. I returned later in the afternoon to take a few pictures.
As you can see, it’s not new and not in very good condition. Subsequent research revealed this vehicle to be an International, Model KB5, built in the period of 1947-1949. About my age.
I took a number of pictures, including the following black and white. At first glance, this photo is not the most flattering depiction, but it’s effective in capturing the decayed state of this derelict vehicle.
It was late in the afternoon and before leaving, I took the opportunity to capture a few sunset scenes in the surrounding desert. This is one of the best times of the day to photograph. As you observe from this next photograph, the sunlight is warm and soft, casting a pleasing glow on the cacti in this scene.
The sky was interesting as well. I expanded this shot of the same cacti to include the clouds. The sun has set further, and the light has become increasingly warm, casting a more reddish glow on the side of the cacti.
A final scene, centred on nearby tree, catches the last rays of sunshine before the sun sets. I like the slight, golden glow on the foreground grasses.
I enjoyed some pretty good light on this occasion, making my impromptu photo session worthwhile.
Pete …. Nice truck pix!

Hi Peter:
Again, great pictures, I saw that truck and thought I’d go back and get a picture but didn’t have time. We’re both in Edmonton at the present time and will probably be until the New Year.
Have a great U.S. Thanksgiving.
Hi to Rolande
