We’ve recently played a few rounds of golf at a nearby golf course, The Boulders. Today’s photographs are intended to share a few scenes from this very unusual landscape, literally strewn with boulders. The site of today’s pictures is the South Course at the Boulders, a course built among the many boulders that presumably fell from Black Mountain at some earlier time.
My first image is a picture of the 17th hole, with Black Mountain in the background. Also, you can see the large mound of boulders directly behind the green, the landmark for the Boulders Resort.
Another picturesque hole is the 15th, with its collection of boulders behind and to the right.
As you play your way through the course there are many garden-like areas along the pathways between holes. They consist of native plants and of course, some hefty rocks.
I would have to refer to the next hole, #5 as the South Courses’s signature hole, a long par 5 leading to the green, nestled among this massive hummock of boulders. This monument is visible for miles. We know we’re close to our Arizona home when these boulders come into view.
Pete … a very interesting golf course … sometime back I paled both the North and South courses … lots of fun!!

Hi, Peter.
Yes, both Beautiful courses. Karey and I have played them both. As a matter of fact Karey had her best game ever at the Boulders some 20 years ago.

Peter:
Great pictures, very interesting formations, have to see them to believe they balance the way they do.
