This post will be the last of a series of four featuring autumn scenes. The pictures in this post were mostly taken in a walk around the Town of Canmore in late September.
I begin with this one taken from the roadside of the Three Sisters Parkway, a short distance from home. It shows a number of aspen trees at different stages of changing colour from green to orange/yellow.

The next picture was taken in a treed area in front of our house. I was drawn to the bright yellows of the aspen leaves backlit by sunshine.

This next picture depicts a scene I see often on my regular walks into the downtown area of Canmore. It’s a nice view with the Fairholm Range in the background.

While crossing the Bow River in the course of my walk, I paused on the bridge to take this picture of some anglers casting for trout. The Bow River is home to a healthy population of Brown Trout. Other species that one can encounter are Bull Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Brook Trout and Rocky Mountain Whitefish.

My stroll next took me through Spring Creek, a residential area near downtown. This photograph was taken from the bridge crossing Policeman Creek, looking northwest toward Mount Rundle.

Further along Policeman Creek, I paused to take this shot from a shaded area along the bank. There is lots of colour in this scene, including the reeds in the middle of the stream.

This scene features an old iron bridge, dating back to Canmore’s coal mining era. The bridge spans an arm of the Bow River and was part of a rail system used to convey coal from the mines to the railroad lines on the opposite side of town.

As I walked along the river in the direction of home, I couldn’t miss the brilliant colours of the aspens on the opposite bank.

Yesterday, we returned from a trip to visit our son and family on the West Coast. Late in the afternoon it began to snow, continuing over night. Today, we awakened to an entirely different looking environment, more like winter than autumn. We’ll have some more fall weather, but the leaves are now down, a sign that winter is approaching.
