Last weekend I took a short trip to an area north of the Town of Banff. I travelled a circuit referred to as the Lake Minnewanka Loop, a road that accesses three lakes in the area, Johnson Lake, Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka. I explored a number of possible photo sites in search of some scenery I hadn’t photographed before.
Today’s blog includes my four favourites for the day, taken from three different locations. The first photo, Mount Astley was taken at a stop I made along the road soon after I began the loop. It features Mount Astley, in the background, complemented by a creek in the foreground.
This next picture was taken at my second location, near the roadside, above Two Jack Lake. That’s Mount Rundle in the background, an iconic landmark of the Town of Banff, located nearby.
A little further up the road, I found this scene, Mount Inglisbaldie, the second highest peak of the Fairholme Range at 2,964 metres (9,725 feet) in height.
On my way home, I stopped once again at my first location in an effort to capture a close-up shot of Cascade Mountain. The road passes very close to the base of the mountain at this location. Regrettably, it’s difficult to replicate with a photograph, the visual impact I experienced standing there.
It was a beautiful day and I’m pleased I got out to enjoy it!
Your truly blessed to have that in your backyard!
