I awoke this morning to a beautiful overnight snowfall. It’s not our first snowfall this autumn, nor is it technically winter yet, but I’m declaring it the beginning of winter. In addition to the fresh snow we received, the temperature was moderate and there was no wind.
I collected my camera and went out to get some photographs in the neighbourhood. However, before leaving the house, I shovelled the back porch and took this first shot from there. This is the view we see every morning when we arise and go for coffee in the kitchen. Today was special.
As I began a loop around our neighbourhood, I very quickly came upon this interesting scene. It’s a stairway leading up to the neighbours’ entrance to their home. I got there before they shovelled it and got this picture which shows how much snow fell over night.
My next photograph features this scene in an area we refer to as the “centre lots”. It’s a small green space encircled by the road that loops through our neighbourhood, Falcon Lane.
I then walked to a wooded area behind the playground seen in the photograph “Back Porch View”, today’s first photograph. I was the first one to travel this path this morning, on my way back to the playground.
On my way to the playground, I noticed this single remaining leaf on an aspen tree. The tangle of branches, covered with snow, forms an interesting pattern, with the added appeal of the leaf’s vibrant colour.
My last picture for today is that of a pathway leading from the front to the back of our property, along the side of the house.
I soon called it a day and retired to the kitchen for a much deserved second cup of coffee.
When I heard of the snowfall in your area I knew I could count on you for some gorgeous pics! I’m sure the walk was a very quiet one. Thanks Peter
Send some our way!🙏
Very nice Peter. Great shot of the virgin snow on the pathway. The lone leaf was a dramatic shot of “clinging to life”. After viewing these photos, I had to put on my pullover fleece and pour a third cup of coffee!
