Late Afternoon Excursion
One late afternoon last week, I anticipated the light would be good and set out to take some pictures as the sun went down. This time of day, the last hour before sunset is termed the “Golden Hour”, a favourite time to take photographs.
This photograph features the nearby Black Mountain, taken from a parking area near our community centre. This face of the mountain is illuminated with the warm light of the late afternoon sun. Note the home (one of many on this mountain) perched on a terrace to the left of the peak.
This next photograph was taken on E. Stagecoach pass, located in the nearby town of Carefree. Considering the Spanish architecture and its location, I chose to call this home Carefree Hacienda, a seemingly appropriate label for my photograph. The banner photo at the top of the page features a curved section of E. Stagecoach pass.
My next photograph was also taken at the parking area near the community centre. My attention was drawn to the very unusual sky. The foreground is quite busy, but I chose to live with it in the interest of capturing as much as I could of the sky.
The next picture was taken along Pima Road, a busy thoroughfare a few miles east of our community. I had previously seen this wall bordering another community along this road, and decided to return to see if I could find a good picture. I was limited to areas where I could park my vehicle, which determined this as the location where I would take the picture. There are better areas along this road, but I need to find a safer place to park. Nonetheless, I’m happy with this picture, particularly the lighting at this hour.
From this same location, I had a good view of trees bordering the road. I took several pictures and chose this low key black and white image for today’s post.
On my way home, I took a side trip behind a nearby shopping centre, where I thought I might get a good shot of some mountains behind it. Alas, my line of sight was obstructed by a wall, separating the shopping centre from the desert and mountains behind. Not all was lost. As I drove along, seeking an opening in the wall, I espied several trees along the way, casting their shadows on the wall. I think the tree and its shadow is a good photographic subject. Again, I’m a little uncertain of the species of the tree, but I think it’s most likely another acacia.
Problem seems to be resolved. Let me now if you continue to have problems loading.
