We wrapped up our recent holiday in South America with a week in Chile. Our first stop was the capital city, Santiago, a very modern city of about 4.5 million people.
Following are a few favourite scenes from our short stay in Santiago.
This first picture was taken in a district called “Paris and London”. I thought the sign was interesting and so I photographed it. The sign marks the crossroads of these two streets at the centre of the district. The area was constructed in the 1920’s and as the name would suggest, the buildings’ architecture has a distinct European flavour.
A close-up view of this church, located in the Paris London District. The district was actually built upon land that belonged to the church.
Another fountain scene (there were many of them wherever we went). This one was located in the main square of Santiago and again, I used a very fast shutter speed (1/8000 sec.) to freeze the action. To achieve such a brief exposure, I used a large aperture, f2.8 and a high sensor sensitivity, ISO 3200.
In my next post, I’ll conclude the pictures from our South America adventure with photos from our visit to Chile’s Wine Country.
