Today’s photo was taken from the observation car of our train, the Andean Explorer as we traveled from Cusco to Lake Titicaca in the highlands of Peru. It was early evening and I really like the soft light and long shadows at that time of day. The railroad traverses very flat terrain, a valley between ranges of the Andes Mountains, at an elevation of about 12,000 ft. (3,660 m.). Our trip lasted pretty much all day, a voyage of just over 10 hours and during that time we saw quite a variation in the topography. Peru is very geographically diverse and we got a good glimpse of that diversity on this train trip. Here’s the picture.
And here’s map of Peru showing the locations of Cusco and Lake Titicaca. The photo was taken at about 2/3 of the distance to Lake Titicaca.
NICE!
