One last photo for now from the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. In this post, I feature a single picture, that of a Mexican Poppy that particularly appealed to me. This stunning annual’s blossoms open with the morning sun and close when dusk falls blanketing the countryside with deep orange and bright yellow hues. A close relative of the California Poppy, the Mexican Poppy adapted to the hotter, drier conditions of Arizona about 8,000 years ago. They can be seen in profusion in the desert around Phoenix and I hope to sometime capture a scene with the afore-mentioned blanketing of poppies.
Here’s the picture for today.
Very colourful!
