On my last trip to Banff National Park earlier this week, I took a few pictures of trees that I found interesting. This first picture was inspired by similar photos and paintings I have seen over the years. It is a close-up view of a stand of aspens, located at Muleshoe along Highway 1A. Artists and photographers seem to be attracted to aspen trees; pictures of aspens are quite common in local art gallerys and photo studios. We have a such a painting hanging in the front hall of our house! Here’s my effort from this week.
The aspens have begun to change to their autumn colour (bright yellow and orange) since I took this photo, only three days ago. I’ll go back this weekend to take an update.
Further along the road, I stopped at another favourite location, the Sawback Burn to get this next photograph. It features some lodgepole pines, burned in the fire of 1993. Their somber look is contrasted by the emerging autumn colours in the background new growth.
This is another site that will truly radiate with colour in the coming days.
