In my last post, I included a picture of Mount Kidd, reflected in the Wedge Pond. After reflecting upon this photograph, I was pretty certain that I had taken an earlier photo from the same location. A search of my archive proved that recollection to be correct and surprisingly, the shot was taken from almost the very same location. Here’s a repeat of the autumn scene from Autumn in Kananaskis, posted 3 days ago.
The following photograph was taken May 12, 2010 and it too was included in an earlier post, entitled Wedge Pond. It was an early spring morning at sunrise and according to my earlier post, a little cool (-5 degC). It can still be a little wintery in Kananasksis Country in May and you can see that the aspen trees are bare and the grass is quite brown. The rising sun is striking Mount Kidd, producing the orangish/red colour we see with the sun low in the sky. Of course there is still considerable snow on the peaks. Conditions on this day were also quite favourable, enabling me to get an excellent reflection in the pond.
Spring and fall are, I think the best time for photographing this particular area. I must say though, that I’ve been there in all seasons and it’s never disappointing.
