On a recent trip to Florida. I visited the pier at Jacksonville Beach. It was evening and I went for some pictures at sunset. The sun was actually setting behind me but illuminated the evening sky to the east quite nicely. This view is of course down the pier, looking east over the Atlantic Ocean. The pier is nearly a quarter of a mile long and offers visitors close up views of the Atlantic Ocean and gives anglers access to deep-water species of fish.
Looking back toward the shore, this view gave me some nice light on the clouds and reflected in the surf.
This pelican gave me a good look. Despite not being a fisherman and sharing my catch, he obliged me with several good poses, including this one. Nice bird!
I’ll finish this post with two pictures I took from the shore near the pier. The first shows the boardwalk that provides access to the beach from the parking lot.
From the end of the boardwalk, I got this last shot of the pier from the side, showing its full extent. I like the evening sky, a good complement to the scene.
Thanks to Jinette, Jean and Michael for taking me out to photograph this great landmark.
Great Photos, Peter. Love the pelican!
