While reviewing my files from Death Valley one last time, I came across two wide angle views that hadn’t caught my eye earlier. I’ve chosen to publish them today, my last pictures from Death Valley, I think.
This first picture was taken from the road along the east side of the valley, looking south. It provides a good view of the salt pan that covers the south end of Death Valley. What appears to be water is not at this time of the year, simply the salts that cover the bottom of the basin. Death Valley gets about 2″ (5 cm) of rain annually, so there are periods when water accumulates in the basin, but not while I was there.
The next and last picture was taken from above the valley at Dante’s View, elevation 5475 ft above sea level. It’s a good view of the valley looking north and features the colourful rock formations of the Artists’ Drive area just to the north.
Great photo’s. Keep it up. Cheers.
