Today’s blog posting is a very simple one, a single photograph. I took this picture about a week ago from our back deck. It caught my eye at the time, a brilliant sunset but I didn’t think much about it. A friend’s comment inspired me to take a second look at it and I realized that it’s not a bad picture. What you see is Mount Rundle, which is a range of peaks running east to west from Canmore to Banff, a distance of about 20 km (13 miles). The sky is hazy with smoke from a forest fire, enhancing the colour of the light and creating a soft glow along the mountain peaks.
It was getting dark, so the foreground is in silhouette but this shot is all about the sky, the clouds and the colourful light.
I agree with your friend – a great shot and a beautiful sunset!
Beautiful picture Peter, I agree with your friend. Next to reflections and rainbows you can never enjoy too many sunsets.
