I have just completed a week long workshop on Photography and Visual Design, led by two celebrated Canadian photographers, Freeman Patterson and Andre Gallant, both from New Brunswick. The workshop was held in St. Martins, New Brunswick, a small seaside town on the Fundy coast of the province, about 50 km (30 miles) east of Saint John. The workshop included 13 participants from across Canada and the United States.
The workshop consisted of a series of lectures and complementary photo shoots which enabled us to put newly gained knowledge into practice immediately. The instruction and guidance from Freeman and Andre was first-rate and I benefited from learning in the presence of a dozen talented co-participants, who shared their thoughts, experiences and insights generously.
We photographed in and around the town of St. Martins and also spent a morning at Freeman’s residence at Shampers Bluff, overlooking the Saint John River. As I think my photographs today will attest, we enjoyed some stunning scenery to practice upon.
Today, I will share some of my favourites pictures from the week without comment or analysis. I’ll allow each photographs to deliver its proverbial “1000 words”. I will post a subsequent blog where I will illustrate and describe some of the techniques I will endeavour to apply to my future photographic efforts. Here’s my first shot, taken at a beach near St. Martins.
The remainder of today’s images are presented as a slideshow. Simply click on the right side of the image to progress, on the left to back up.

Nice selection of photographs, Peter. Sharp, soft, different times of day, indoor and out – appears it was a great week. Bob.
All pictures are amazing! My favorites: Stand of Trees and Sanctuary. The blue bench is soooo cool.
