The Hall of Flame Fire Museum and the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes, located in Phoenix, Arizona, has almost an acre of fire history exhibits, with over 90 fully restored pieces of fire apparatus on display, dating from 1725 to 1969. Most of the exhibits are American, but there also pieces from England, France, Austria, Germany, and Japan.
I visited the museum last week with my daughter, Jaime, her husband, Andrew and grandson, Fynn. We were motivated by Fynn’s fascination with firetrucks (and other vehicles) and our anticipation that the museum would really appeal to him. He was not disappointed!
Following is a slideshow showing some of the exhibits we saw at the museum.
What is striking to me about these exhibits is their condition. They are meticulously maintained, as evidenced by the “spit and polish” shine on the many vehicles, carriages and their accessories. The museum appears to be staffed by former fireman. Firemen spend much of their spare time between calls, looking after their equipment. That tradition lives on a the The Hall of Flame Fire Museum.
Where are the pics Fynn enjoying the exhibits ??
Nice Shots! Having worked for a fire truck manufacturer at one point in my career – was really interesting! A place to visit!
