A popular recreation area in Canmore. It’s pretty quiet before sunrise at this time of the year; just my friend Howie and I out to get some pictures. No brilliant colours this particular morning, but some very photogenic clouds.
This shot of the Rundle Range across Quarry Lake features a mix of high, wispy cirrus clouds and some lower stratus clouds. Some of the lower clouds are illuminated by the rising sun, casting colourful reflections in the lake. The stillness of the water allowed for beautiful reflections of the sky and the mountain range.
Earlier, the sky was dominated by these much lower stratus clouds. That’s the Rundle Range again in the background, this time showing East End of Rundle (EEOR) partly enveloped in clouds and beautifully reflected in the lake.
It was almost like two different mornings. Weather changes quickly around Canmore and so do the pictures. Unlike Phoenix a week ago, this morning’s temperature was just slightly above freezing.
Peter,
You are really pushing me to look at airfares aren’t you as these photos are so beautiful and putting me in the “I want to return to Canada” mode.
We remember with much fondness how lovely Canada was (and is)
Does Howie believe that we have kangaroos in Australia yet?
