One of the more common trees in the Canadian Rockies is the aspen tree, one of the few deciduous species among a sea of pines, firs and spruce. Their bright green leaves contrast strongly with the surrounding dark greens of the conifers, particularly in springtime.
After patiently waiting for the rain of the past few days to stop, I set out this afternoon for the Alpine Club where there are extensive aspen groves. I took a variety of pictures, using both a 24-70 mm standard lens and a 70-200 mm telephoto lens. I tried a variety of photo styles, an exercise I could entitle “How many ways can I photograph aspen trees?”
I’ve put the pictures together in a slideshow today. Simply click on the right side of the pictures to advance, on the left to reverse course.
