I took a drive last evening into Kananaskis Country. My principal photographic target was wildlife but realizing that the animals don’t always appear, I had my eye open for other appealing sights of nature.
Bears eluded me, as they often do but I was able to sight and photograph a couple of ungulates, a white-tailed deer and a moose. I’ll begin with them and then share a random selection of other shots I collected along the way, in a slideshow.
Both shots were taken with a 100-400 mm telephoto lens, at full magnification. I was probably 25 yards away in both cases so I was able to capture good definition.
I left the telephoto lens on the camera and took the rest of my pictures using it as well, not necessarily with as much magnification. Apart from the limitations of the narrow range of view and more difficulty managing depth-of-field, this lens takes excellent images and can be used in a broad variety of ways. Sometimes you just have to back up a bit.
Here’s a slideshow of those random selections.
