Today, Bob Bear and I returned to an area we had visited a little over a year ago. It’s where three rivers come together, the Emerald, Amiskwi and the Kicking Horse, just west of Field B.C. It’s a pleasant walk in from the Emerald Lake Road along a forestry road. The sights en route are as good as those at our destination. Today’s post includes some selections from both.
I begin with a simple picture I took on the road in, an aspen leaf lying on the trail. It was damp from an overnight rain and I was intrigued with the pattern of water droplets on its surface. It beaded like water on a freshly waxed car!
We were a little disappointed with the progression of the autumn colours, still not very brilliant. The turning of the leaves is late this year. Nonetheless, I was able to work a few splashes of colour into the pictures. This next picture features the Emerald River just upstream of the point where it joins the Kicking Horse.
I repeated a scene I had photographed on my last visit in August of 2012. This picture shows Mount Hurd, viewed looking southward down the Kicking Horse. The peak was not visible due to the overcast today but it’s still a good scene, especially with the fresh mantle of snow on the mountain..
The remainder of today’s photographs is presented as a slideshow. Click on the right side of the photos to advance; on the left to back up.
Love the “Aspen Leaf”!
