The other day, Rolande and I went for short, evening drive into Banff National Park. We followed a familiar route, the Bow Valley Parkway. We enjoyed the scenery and even spotted a black bear, but the highlight for me was the colourful display of wildflowers at Hillsdale Meadow. These brilliant pink flowers are known as fireweed, a perennial, herbaceous plant. In the background is Mount Ishbel, part of the Sawback Range and in my opinion, one of the more appealing mountain peaks in the area. The field of pink flowers in the meadow was a nice enhancement to the scene; the first time I had seen them there.
