We returned to Canmore earlier this week. Good news and bad news. On the positive side, we missed the brutal cold that gripped the area in late November. Unfortunately, we also missed the beautiful snowfall that followed, although some would say it was too much. A lot of snow! By the time we got here all the snow was gone and we were welcomed with the dull brown colours of late autumn. Happily it didn’t last long and we did get a nice snowfall the night before last.
I arose for the sunrise this morning and was greeted by a beautiful, clear morning. It was pretty cold, so I didn’t venture too far. There were ample good shots from the back porch, so that is as far as I went.
You may have noticed that the past three posts have all included (if not featured) photographs of the moon. Although the moon was not the theme of today’s post, it was there and appears in several of the pictures. Not a full moon, but clearly visible.
I begin with this picture of the Canmore Wall, directly behind our house. The sun has barely cleared the horizon and is just striking the top of the mountain. Lo and behold, there’s the moon.
I’ve included the rest of today’s pictures as a slide show. As always, click on the right side of the images to advance; on the left to reverse direction.
Nice winter wonderland 🙂

The moon adds a magical dimension to the mountains!
