This hardy paddler has launched his raft into the churning waters of the Little Colorado River, just downstream of the Grand Falls of Arizona. This river flows for only a short period of the year, when the spring run-off from mountains to the northeast of the state peaks. Once the run-off is completed, the flow dries up and remains so until the following spring.
Often referred to as the “Chocolate Falls”, the river carries a heavy silt load which produces a brown flow of water over the falls.
